It's that time of the year again where we get a chance to spend a Sunday with some potential clients of ours. We love doing these bridal shows because its a chance for us to get to know you and hear all about your big day. These shows can be a LOT to take in with information and sales pitches. We get it. That's why when you stop at our booth at any of these shows you'll quickly learn that we are there to help you and not sell you. If you are looking for a DJ company that can rock your wedding and not be cheesy? We got you!

Here's where you can find our team this winter.

Lights. Trussing. Cables. Photo Booths. Haze. Rigging. DJs. The list goes on and on for what we pulled off for the annual Mixtape Festival after party on August 6th at the Hersheypark Arena. This was our third year providing the entertainment for the after party and it's so cool to see that each year it gets bigger and bigger.

We are given the Hersheypark Arena as an empty canvas each year. We are told "do what you want and make it fun" and that's exactly what we do. When the concert is cover in the stadium, the VIPs get to walk across the parking lot and enter the old arena which gets turned into a mini concert / night club. We completely transformed the space with a TON of lighting and trussing. We wanted the VIPs to feel something spe...

Right now with today's technology and resources, anybody and everybody can be a DJ. Right? All you need is an iPad, iTunes and some speakers. Before making a decision you will regret let us please help you stay clear of this nightmare.

#1 - An amateur DJ didn't invest in actual professional gear.

You can go to Walmart, Kmart, Target, Best Buy and so on and buy what they call "DJ gear". Will that gear work for an event? Maybe. The microphone will probably help amplify the vocals but it will sound like a phone or have horrible feedback. The speakers may help play music but they won't be loud enough to handle your event. The lights may blink or spin but it won't be bright enough for your event. The gear these stores are selling can be use...

We are pumped to announce the newest addition to the Mixed-Up family, Adam Gingrich! Adam has been DJing since he was 16 and his love for music and being creative is what makes him a perfect fit with our team. I’ve known Adam for a couple of years and I know what he’s capable of. He lives for this industry. He’s passionate about what he does. He is in it for the right reasons. Welcome to the team Adam!

I asked Adam a few questions about his love for this business and what the future may hold for him.

You’ve been Djing for quite a few years now. What about being a DJ do you love the most?

-I love the challenge of keeping a dance floor packed and figuring out exactly what to play and when to play it, to keep the party going

What are you most excited about when it comes to getting back out there for weddings and events?

-I am most excited to connect with the couples and clients, and customize and plan their wedding/event to make their dream wedding a reality. I know that sounds cliche but it’s true with Mixed-Up Productions. We actually listen to what the couples want and I love that.

What made you decide to join with Mixed-Up Productions?

-Mixed up gets it. There’s no beating around the bush, it’s not about the numbers and how many weddings they can do, it’s about focusing on the couple and the event and making sure the right dj fits to make their day as amazing as possible. Mixed up has a great reputation around the area with past clients, vendors, and venues. I have only ever heard good things about Mixed Up.

So future clients can get to know you a little better, explain who Adam is?

-Outgoing, personable, and can adapt to any event. Extensive music knowledge and knowing the right music to play and when to play it.

If a bride or a wedding professional is reading this right now, whats the one thing you want to tell them about this upcoming wedding season or what to expect from yourself as a DJ and Mixed-Up Productions as a company.

-Look no further than mixed up. Every employee has tons of experience and is dedicated to the company and it truly is a family built over years and years.

Adam is available to DJ your event today! Connect with us now if you are interested: info@mixedupproductions.com.

We wanted to start something new with our blog that puts the spotlight on our DJs and even local vendors. This is just a small way to say thanks to those who are driven, dedicated and passionate about our industry. This week, we kick it off with our very own Damian Rhodes. Damian is an incredible DJ, MC, Radio Personality and friend. He’s talented in so many ways and hopefully he can rock your next party.

5 Questions with Damian Rhodes

1. WHEN DID YOU START TO DJ AND WHAT MADE YOU GET INTO IT?

I first starting DJing when I was in high school. (I had a very simple setup back then. Two cassette decks & some cheap speakers lol). I would DJ some of my friends birthday parties, Halloween parties & so forth. I found myself always watching & studying the DJs our school would hire for our homecoming dances. I’ve always loved music. I was the kid who always had earbuds in my ears rocking out to my favorite songs . As I went on to college & studied communications/broadcasting I fell out the DJ thing. Then when I got hired in radio out of college I got back into DJing after getting numerous emails from listeners asking if I could DJ their party or wedding.

2. DO YOU HAVE A MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER THAT STANDS OUT AS ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS SO FAR?

I actually have a few. One was a homecoming dance I did for Warwick high school where you literally couldn’t see the floor in the cafeteria they had their dance in. (the school’s cafeteria was actually bigger than their gymnasium so they had their dance there). But I’ve never seen so many people dancing at one time in my life! It looked like a sold out concert!

The second is a wedding I did at Park Inn in Mechanicsburg where at the end of the evening while I was taking my equipment down, the bride came over, gave me a big hug, said thank you for making their big day perfect, & that I was “her most favorite vendor to work with out of all the vendors she had because I was so easy to talk to.”

My third was a bride & groom I worked really close with through the planning process, built a friendship with them and still stay in touch. They recently asked me to get together with them to see their baby.

3. WHAT MUSIC DO YOU PERSONALLY LIKE? FAVORITE ARTIST? FAVORITE SONG?

My music taste is kind of all over the place. I typically listen to anything from top-40, to 80s, & even some classic rock. You’d find Nickelback, Robin Thicke, Maroon 5, Ben Rector, Gavin DeGraw, Flo Rida, Boston, Elton John, Phil Collins, 38 Special, Stevie Wonder, and even my guilty pleasure (a boy band called 98 Degrees) on my ipod 🙂

4. WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT DJING?

I love getting to know my wedding clients & working along side them during the planning process. I really enjoy sitting down with them, getting to know what they like to do outside of their wedding planning and really get to know them. Of course I also love finding a good mix of songs their guests like & mixing & blending them all together seamlessly. I love mixing songs together & looking up from my laptop and seeing a dance floor full of people dancing, smiling & even sometimes singing along to their favorite song.

5. YOU RECENTLY GOT ENGAGED. BEING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANNING TABLE, HOW IS THE PLANNING GOING SO FAR? ANY ADVICE TO THOSE PLANNING?

Right now the planning is going slow lol. We still have to pick a date yet. My fiancé is waiting for my weekends to free up over the Winter so we can start looking at venues and shop other vendors. What’s cool for us is that I see a lot of great ideas when I go out & DJ on the weekends so I’m always taking pictures of center pieces, cakes, escort cards & venues to share with my fiancé & get her opinion on things. It also helps that I know a lot of people with amazing talent in the business so I know firsthand who would be a perfect fit for our wedding day.

Here’s one of Damian’s 5 star reviews from Wedding Wire:

“For our wedding, we were very pleased to work with Damian from Mixed Up productions. Our first meeting with Damian went well, he was already answering our questions before we even had to ask and walking us through the details step by step. Damian really showed his dedication and expertise in the months and weeks leading up to our wedding by quickly and honestly responding to every question or request we had. He also had great suggestions when we needed them! The true test was the big day, not only were we impressed by the professionalism with us during the wedding but our guests had a great time from start to finish. Damian even made a special announcement honoring our parent’s wedding anniversary. We will recommend Damian and Mixed Up productions to all of our friends and family, we are so happy to have had him as part of our wedding!”
